2007 Sutter Home Chenin Blanc(2 out of 5)

Standard

ImageSutter Home is the retail worker’s best friend. Meaning affordable and dependable throughout. I have revisited the House of Sutter many times. There have been no red weddings this week, though. I had one glass of this beauty to celebrate. I had it with a spinach salad, walnuts, and a Veggie Burger(spicy black bean, for the record). It worked rather well.

Again, not a fan of the white wines overall. I have been expanding my palette, thanks to the urging of Dylan. I have not tried Chenin Blanc until recently, and I am glad to make its acquaintance. There’s definitely an impression of light fruits and zest when you uncork the sucker. After letting it breathe an hour, however, there’s no fragrance at all. It’s just flat. That hasn’t often happened in my wining and dining. You get pear, apple, melon, and honeydew flavors right off the bat. The taste doesn’t fall flat, however, it’s a simple, nice, fruity touch. Not much in the way of knockdown, dragged out white wine awesomeness, but definitely a nice, ‘veranda’ wine, as Dylan and I have dubbed a certain sort of wine. You could probably mix this wine with a salad with light viniagrette and you’d taste even more flavor. I’ll let you know when I try that.

In the meantime, I’d highly recommend it if you just want a light white wine to go with a light meal, or snack. I cannot do more than that, it’s not an overwhelmingly fragrant, nor overwhelmingly zazztastic in its taste, it just is. A good wine.

About generationgbooks

I read a ridiculous amount of books in a ridiculously quick amount of time. I read everything- fiction, history, sports, political science, fantasy, young adults, kids, romance- everything. I have worked in books almost half of my life now, and I never get bored with them. I need an outlet for books, where I can reach many people who may or may not give a fig about my opinions. I'm kind of known for rambling about books, so I figure it's about time I get off my lazy ass and take it to the blogosphere, where I have had the great luck of meeting many wonderful people inflicted with this book-disease. Personal stuff? Not much. I work too much, I'm single so I have more time to deal with this and less to deal with BS. I'm a die-hard Duranie and 80's fan. I am way too entertained with social media and astrology(for those of you who give a fig, I'm a Capricorn, or the sexier description- a seagoat.) for mine and the world's- own good. Only insanity can result from me blogging. That said, here goes!
