Summer Splash Wine Mojito Cocktail (5 out of 5)

It has become the summer of discontent relating to my friendly beverages. I simply cannot drink like I once did. I’m not sure if it’s age catching up with me, my digestive issues, or age catching up with me. I cannot slam those deliciously heady red wines like I used to, and I shudder to think what would happen if I have an Alabama Slammer anytime soon.  Aldi’s strange hybrid wine mixtures haven’t been a home run in the park this summer either, so I approached this one with trepidation. However, this one had something the others did not- lime. Delicious, sexy lime. I have, yes, taken to dancing cheek-to-cheek with limes in my kitchen recently. My mother probably rolled over in her grave the other day, when I tried a margarita. That’s right, Ms. I hate tequila because it doesn’t agree with me (in this case, it did. huh). Anyhow, something about this bottle got my attention. I read the label and saw 14% alcohol content. That convinced me, I had to try. Limes AND a higher alcohol content, seeing this is a “blend”? Oh yeah, bring it on.

This sucker retails for $4.99 a bottle. I will mourn it when it’s gone. I know it’s only a temporary thing because Aldi changes its wines like I read books. Mojito, for those who are unaware, are made with lime, rum, and mint. Rum. My other enemy. Well, I’m going down with the ship and hoping I don’t sink like the Titanic. This is indeed a bit strong, but not overwhelmingly. It’s not like trying to make a gin and tonic and the smell of the gin makes you think of shoe polish. It’s got a very pleasant flavor, not too much mint or too much lime. It’s also NOT overly sweet. I drank glass one with crushed ice. And sat in front of the air conditioning vent (Hot flashes. Judge me. I dare you). While listening to Guns N’ Roses Lies. All in all, a worthwhile experience. It’s a very light mojito cocktail. Very smooth. So much that when you drink the first one In record time and get up too fast, well, you’re going to notice a change.

Again, not too much can I tell you how much I enjoy this. If I can figure out a way, I’m going to stock up on it. I advise you to do the same. Definitely worth the experience!

About generationgbooks

I read a ridiculous amount of books in a ridiculously quick amount of time. I read everything- fiction, history, sports, political science, fantasy, young adults, kids, romance- everything. I have worked in books almost half of my life now, and I never get bored with them. I need an outlet for books, where I can reach many people who may or may not give a fig about my opinions. I'm kind of known for rambling about books, so I figure it's about time I get off my lazy ass and take it to the blogosphere, where I have had the great luck of meeting many wonderful people inflicted with this book-disease. Personal stuff? Not much. I work too much, I'm single so I have more time to deal with this and less to deal with BS. I'm a die-hard Duranie and 80's fan. I am way too entertained with social media and astrology(for those of you who give a fig, I'm a Capricorn, or the sexier description- a seagoat.) for mine and the world's- own good. Only insanity can result from me blogging. That said, here goes!
